The Different Types of Hazard Control Methods
The online Hazwoper training courses, teaches its students about the various types of hazard control methods. There are primarily 5 types of control methods, they are:

1.Hazard Elimination: This process may be defined as the complete removal of hazards from the work site. This is the main reason why hazard elimination is the most effective method. For example, employers can adopt an automatic mode operation rather than manual operation.

2.Hazard reduction: This process is also known as hazard substitution. This process may be defined as the effort to reduce or lessen the hazard levels from the workplace, to an acceptable level. However, this control method is only used when hazard elimination is not feasible.

3.Engineering control: This form of control deals with the basic design of workplace and their related processes. Hence, the processes that may come under this category are isolation, ventilation and containment.

4.Administrative control: Administrative control is only selected when elimination and substitution are not feasible, and engineering control could not provide adequate control. Some examples of administrative controls are safety signs, safety talks, alarms and training programs, such as, the online Hazwoper training course.

5.Personal Protective Equipment: The use of PPE is now being made mandatory in every organization. Some examples of PPE are safety glasses, hard hats, ear plugs etc.
